Living in Saubusse

The origins of Saubusse

A Landes village of under 1,000 residents located on the banks of the Adour river, between Dax and Bayonne, Saubusse has a strong identity built around its thermal spa and traditional rural architecture. Mentioned as early as the Middle Ages, the village was long shaped by barge traffic on the Adour. In the 19th century, the discovery of a sulphurous spring at 30°C gave rise to a thermal spa establishment that still exists today.

Saubusse's must-sees

The thermal baths of Saubusse, a rural and little-known spa resort, attract visitors drawn to peace and quiet and a natural setting. The Saint-Jacques-le-Majeur church, dating from the 14th century, the former river port on the Adour and the hillsides overlooking the river make up a remarkable architectural and scenic heritage. The rural setting, the nearby Tursan vineyards and walks along the banks of the Adour add to the village's charm.

Living in Saubusse

Saubusse charms with its rural authenticity and peaceful atmosphere, 15 minutes from Dax, 35 minutes from Bayonne and 40 minutes from the ocean. The commune attracts residents seeking calm, a preserved environment and more affordable land than on the coast. The property market mainly offers traditional Landes houses, restored farmhouses and rural properties with land. The local fabric retains local shops, a school and a lively community life, within a preserved countryside setting.
